Kansas Common Sense for Governor & Lt. Governor
"*" indicates required fields
I’m running for Governor to bring common sense and conservative leadership to Kansas.
A native of Kansas, Derek and his family have called Kansas home since the 1860s when a young Union soldier named Peter Schmidt made his life in Southeast Kansas after the Civil War. For five generations, the Schmidts have helped build Kansas as metalworkers and farmers, teachers and miners, and small business owners. Derek believes each generation has a responsibility to leave Kansas better than they found it.
Katie Sawyer brings a wealth of both public- and private-sector experience to the Schmidt-Sawyer ticket, as well as a deep personal understanding of the hopes and priorities of Kansans. She is a fifth-generation Kansan and, along with her husband, a fourth-generation owner and operator of their family farm in McPherson County. They manage the diversified crop operation, commercial cow herd, and Sawyer Family Angus. Under their leadership the operation has grown to include additional crop acres, cattle facilities, and pasture ground.
