Kansas attorney general insists Ben & Jerry’s parent company reverse Israel boycott
TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt insisted Monday, in a letter to the consumer goods company Unilever, that they must end a boycott of Israel enacted by their subsidiary Ben & Jerry’s .
The AG says the company should instead stand in support of the ally of the United States. Israel has been drawing criticism. from some, for the intensity and severity of it’s retaliation to attacks in a conflict with Palestine.
Schmidt joined 11 other state attorneys general in sending a letter to Unilever, the parent company of Ben & Jerry’s, urging the conglomerate to insist on an end to the Ben & Jerry’s boycott. The attorneys general also noted that Unilever has business dealings with nations such as Iran.
Ben & Jerry’s itself announced it’s ban of Israel in summer 2021.
