RELEASE: Schmidt campaign launches latest TV ad featuring Kansas farmer who calls Kelly a ‘Biden Democrat’

TOPEKA – (October 19, 2022) – The campaign for Kansas Attorney General and Republican Nominee for Governor Derek Schmidt has launched its latest TV ad of the 2022 governor’s race. The ad will start on television on October 19, and will be a part of a sustained media campaign through the duration of the race.

The ad, called “Mick,” features Garden Plain dairy and wheat farmer Mick Rausch who is supporting Derek Schmidt because Laura Kelly is a Biden Democrat who is too liberal for Kansas.

Kelly has vetoed 20 tax cuts, including the grocery tax cut in 2019. In fact, if Kelly had signed into law the bill Republicans put on her desk that session the grocery tax cut would be half what it is today and on a path to zero in January.

Joe Biden’s liberal spending in Washington has led to the worst inflation in 40 years, and Kelly has made it worse here in Kansas. In her four years in office, Kelly has increased overall annual state spending by $6 billion. On her watch, the state is spending $22.9 billion in fiscal year 2023, a whopping 35.5 percent more than the $16.9 billion in fiscal year 2019. Kansas has fewer people working in the private sector, flat population growth, and the aforementioned record-high inflation to show for it.

Schmidt has proposed his First 100-day Plan for a Better Kansas, which includes specific proposals to make daily life more affordable for Kansans like Mick.

Transcript, Mick speaking:

“As a Kansas farmer, I know a load of bull when I see it.

“Laura Kelly is not middle of the road.

“She’s a Biden Democrat, and she’s driving Kansas into a ditch.

“Kelly vetoed 20 tax cuts – including the grocery tax cut.

“Laura Kelly is way too liberal, and that’s why I’m with Derek Schmidt.

“Derek’s endorsed by the Farm Bureau and he will stand up to Biden and put Kansans first.

“Derek Schmidt listens to us.”
